Are you challenged
to build the capacity of the members of your national initiative, especially those organizations who
are far removed from your staff?

Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America (CADCA) is a national membership organization
dedicated to building the ability of the nation's communities to reduce drug use. Like
many other national organizations they have limited staffing and resources and yet are
charged with making a difference on a large scale. CSG helped CADCA reach a national
scale and support communities far from their Washington, DC headquarters.
CSG assisted CADCA in defining exactly what capacity needed to be built using a core
competency approach. CSG then helped CADCA conduct a national market study and review
past training efforts for lessons learned. The result was an integrated national
training system that can provide tailored responses to specific community
circumstances.
The training system incorporates web-based supports, distance learning, and regional
instruction. The system is based on the assumption that 'high touch precedes high
tech." That is, CSG views technology as an essential tool, not a silver
bullet.
The training system is aligned with major national gatherings (conventions, forums,
institutes, etc.) also sponsored by CADCA so that, no matter what aspect of CADCA
support a community may access, the same results are achieved. Communities
across America now enjoy a cohesive, easily accessible, low cost support
structure than can measurably improve their ability to tackle local
drug problems. |
